Legislating morality

So can the government force morality on the citizens it governs by passing laws that make immorality illegal and subject to fines and punishments? That's what we'll be discussing this week. Anyone care to comment? Anyone anywhere? Hellooooooo? Is anyone out there? Anyone at all?

Hi! I found the link to your blog on NazNet - I just joined yesterday.

We legislate morality all the time. We tell people they can't kill ro steal or there is a price to pay. We tell people they have to drive certain speed limits, have car inspections, and more. We live in nice little developments that tell us how tall are grass can be and when we have to shovel our snow. So yes we legislate morality and a whole lot more.

But that doesn't answer the questions of why are some things legislated and others not?
